What will participating parents be asked to do?

- Give consent for your child to be involved in the research.
- Allow us to visit your home on 2 occasions (the 2nd visit is optional) so that we can observe the kinds of things you and your children do when undertaking homework and related tasks.
- Complete an interview where we can talk to you about the observations and discuss issues around your child’s education more generally.
- (Optional) Complete a time-use diary for your child using Toggl smartphone app 3 times, each for a week (twice during term and once during the holidays).

About Toggl
Toggl Track is a time tracking app that allows you to track your daily activities across various platforms. It will allow us to have a record of your child’s activities around learning at home.
Toggl Track is available via the Toggl website, desktop apps, browsers and mobile apps. You simply enter your time using the pre-set categories and Toggl will provide us with detailed reporting at the end of the week about aspects of your child’s learning and activities at home.
A researcher will work closely with each family involved in the study and explain how to use Toggl. Please see the following document for Toggl instructions:
